Trump and Zelenskyy Meet at White House to Discuss Air Defense and Peace Talks

U.S. President Donald Trump hosted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House for a closed-door bilateral meeting. The discussions focused on expanding air defense cooperation and exploring pathways to resume negotiations to end the Russia–Ukraine war.

According to Reuters, Zelenskyy spent over an hour at the White House. Neither leader held a joint press conference or issued a formal public statement immediately following the session. However White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt characterized the talks as positive and productive.

Zelenskyy indicated that the two leaders discussed authorization to manufacture Patriot air defense interceptor missiles within Ukraine, alongside other defense proposals. A political agreement regarding the production authorization had been reached previously.

The Ukrainian president emphasized the vital importance of reinvigorating the diplomatic process, noting that representatives from both nations will continue working out the details of upcoming interactions. President Trump has not yet issued a personal comment regarding the outcome of the meeting.
