President Zelenskyy shared his outlook during an exclusive interview with the France-2 television channel. As the war between Russia and Ukraine enters its fourth year, Zelenskyy emphasized that the country’s top priority remains bringing the conflict to an end. He noted that while Russia may seek a pause, much like the Ukrainians, he and his team have no intention of sacrificing the nation’s sovereignty under any pretext of "compromise." He expressed hope that the war would conclude by the beginning of 2027 through negotiations between two leaders, once the conditions of both sides are met.

Zelenskyy also asserted that Putin only fears Trump:

“We do not want to lose the war; if we do, we will lose our independence. If we were to become part of Russia, it would signify a failure, and I am certain that will not happen.”

At the conclusion of the interview, the President expressed immense pride in the Ukrainian people, stating they remain "stronger despite being four times smaller in population." He maintained that Ukrainians place a higher value on human life than Russians do.

On February 24, 2022, the Kremlin invaded Ukraine, marking the beginning of the bloodiest conflict in Europe since World War II.
