Several proposals from Kazakhstan received support at the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference. This was announced by State Advisor Erlan Karin.

“At the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference, Kazakhstan’s proposals were supported. The anniversaries of the famous opera singer Ermek Serkebaev and renowned film director Abdullah Karsakbaev have been included in the UNESCO calendar of anniversaries for 2026–2027,” said Karin.

He emphasized that the inclusion of these anniversaries is a sign of international recognition of the contribution of Kazakh figures to the development of world and national culture.

“This reflects the well-deserved recognition of our outstanding cultural figures at the international level, as they have made significant contributions to the development of both national and world art,” he noted.

The UNESCO calendar of anniversaries has been maintained since 1956. During this time, the organization has supported 1234 international events, 31 of which were included at Kazakhstan's proposal. Among them are the 150th anniversary of Abai, the 100th anniversaries of Mukhtar Auezov, Kanysh Satpayev, Sabit Mukanov, as well as the anniversaries of Almaty and Shymkent.

This year, a concert dedicated to the 100th anniversary of composer and conductor Nurgisa Tlendiev was also organized at UNESCO’s headquarters.
