Where are marriages and divorces most common in Kazakhstan

In 2025, Kazakhstan registered 115.9 thousand marriages. The highest number of marriages was recorded in Astana, as well as in the Karaganda Region and East Kazakhstan Region. The lowest rate was observed in the Kyzylorda Region.

Most marriages took place in urban areas (68.1%), while rural areas accounted for 31.9%. A significant share of people entered marriage for the first time — 77% of men and 78% of women. The average age for first marriage was 27.9 for men and 25.3 for women.

Weddings were most common in summer.

At the same time, 45.7 thousand divorces were registered over the year. The majority of divorces also occurred in cities. The highest divorce rates were reported in the Pavlodar Region, Karaganda Region and North Kazakhstan Region, while the lowest was in the Turkistan Region.

According to experts, divorces most frequently happen within the first 1–4 years of marriage.
