When Will Kazakhstan Citizens Get Easier Access to Europe? MFA Announces New Timeline for Visa Talks

Negotiations between Kazakhstan and the European Union on simplifying the visa regime are expected to continue for at least another one to two years. This was stated by Foreign Minister Ermek Kosherbayev in the corridors of Akorda, commenting on the status of discussions aimed at reducing travel barriers for Kazakh citizens.

According to the Foreign Minister, the process is in its final stage, but it is not yet possible to determine an exact timeline for completion.

“Let’s wait until the negotiations are finished. My deputy will see them through. There are nuances and issues that cannot be discussed publicly at the moment. The deadline is when they finish — that’s it. We should not adjust to external timelines; we must proceed based on our own interests,” Kosherbayev said.

The Foreign Ministry emphasizes that the talks are proceeding constructively; however, their duration is due to the need to consider both sides’ positions and thoroughly address technical details.
