Meta plans to launch special WhatsApp accounts for children under 13, according to DW.com. These accounts will be created and fully managed by parents or guardians.

The company says the new feature was developed in collaboration with families and experts, with a strong focus on child safety.

Once activated, parents or guardians will have full control over the child’s account. They can decide who the child can communicate with and which groups they can join. Additionally, parents can review message requests from unknown contacts and manage privacy settings.

Globally, child safety on the internet has become a major concern. For example, Australia recently imposed restrictions on social media use for children and teenagers, and similar measures are being discussed in several other countries.
