Traffic violators will now be monitored not only by stationary "Sergek" cameras but also by the buses themselves, reports QR News with reference to Informburo.

Dash-mounted video cameras have appeared on the windshields of buses (currently in a testing phase within Bus Park No. 3).

The Department of Transport and Road Infrastructure Development of Astana stated:

"Since March 1, surveillance cameras have been launched in a pilot mode on selected buses, specifically within Bus Park No. 3. These cameras are installed in the front section, directly on the windshield. They are used to measure traffic intensity on dedicated Bus Lanes, ensure the uninterrupted flow of transport in the capital, and maintain the safety of all road users."

The cameras record vehicles in real-time that:

• Enter or drive on the Bus Lane.

• Park on the dedicated lane.

• Obstruct the movement of public transport.

Under current law, Bus Lanes may only be used by scheduled buses and official taxi services.

Future Plans

The project officially started on March 1. Based on the results of this pilot testing, city authorities will decide whether to install these monitoring systems across the entire public transport fleet in Astana.
