The construction of a mosque, being built by Uzbekistan at a cost of 32 billion tenge, is nearing completion at the entrance to Turkestan, reports the press service of the Turkestan region akimat.

At the entrance to the city of Turkestan, the construction of the mosque, which combines the best global practices, is nearing completion. The mosque, being built by the neighboring country Uzbekistan, is expected to be completed by the end of this year. It will be able to accommodate 5,000 people simultaneously. The project cost is 32 billion tenge, the press service reported on Thursday.

According to the akimat, work on the building’s facade, minaret, electrical and water supply systems, and window installation has been completed. Interior finishing works are still underway. Over 30 people and nine units of equipment are involved in the project.

“The foundation of the mosque, covering an area of 7.7 hectares, was laid in 2019. The total area of the mosque is 4,650 square meters. The mosque, topped with 61-meter towers, is being built in a modern style,” the akimat added.
