Against a backdrop of escalating global geopolitical instability and the increasing dominance of "power politics" over international law, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held high-level strategic talks with a prominent delegation from the United Nations. The delegation at the Akorda presidential residence included UN Under-Secretaries-General, as well as the heads of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

During the discussions, the Head of State delivered a candid assessment of the current international order, describing it as a "moment of crisis." He emphasized that, despite rising international tensions, global threats such as environmental disasters and water scarcity can only be addressed through unified collective action. President Tokayev reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s support for the "UN80" initiative, aimed at strengthening the authority and efficiency of the United Nations, and briefed the delegation on Kazakhstan’s domestic reforms directed at building a "Just and Fair State."

A central focus of the meeting was Kazakhstan’s proactive role in environmental diplomacy. The President reiterated several key proposals:

• International Water Organization: Advancing the initiative to establish a dedicated global body under the UN umbrella to manage water resources.

• UN Regional Hub in Almaty: Strengthening the role of the Almaty-based UN Regional Centre for SDGs as a primary platform for dialogue and cooperation across Central Asia and Afghanistan.

The UN representatives described President Tokayev’s address at the summit as "substantive and courageous." They expressed full support for Kazakhstan’s environmental and diplomatic initiatives, acknowledging the nation's growing influence.

This high-level engagement further solidifies Kazakhstan’s reputation not merely as a regional leader, but as a significant global player capable of consolidating international efforts to resolve the most pressing issues of the 21st century.
