U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he is taking control of the situation in Venezuela and effectively named himself the "Acting President" of the country.

Trump made the corresponding announcement on his social media platform, Truth Social, by publishing a screenshot styled after a Wikipedia page. In the posted image, he listed a new title for himself—Acting President of Venezuela—while maintaining his status as the current President of the United States in the profile. The "appointment" date was marked as January 2026.

The statement was made amid reports of the abduction of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro by the U.S. military. Following this, Trump stated that control over events in the country is transitioning to the American leadership and to him personally.

The publication quickly spread across social media and sparked a wide resonance; however, no official comments from the Venezuelan authorities or international organizations had been received at the time of publication.
