U.S. President Donald Trump announced on the Truth Social platform that strict sanctions will be imposed on nations that refuse to sever trade ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to the White House leader, any country conducting business with Iran will be required to pay a 25% tariff on all business operations conducted with the United States. Trump emphasized that this decision is final, non-negotiable, and will take effect immediately. Washington's statement coincides with escalating political tensions within Iran. Currently, U.S. authorities have advised their citizens remaining in Iran to depart the country urgently.

As a reminder, mass protests against rising prices began in Iran in late December, escalating into major clashes with reported casualties. January 12 was declared a day of mourning in Iran to honor those who lost their lives during the unrest.
