U.S. President Donald Trump spoke by phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss the war in Ukraine and the situation in the Middle East, Reuters reported. Trump shared this information with journalists in Doral, Florida.

According to Trump, the conversation went “very well.”

“President Putin and Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky have a great deal of hostility between them. They cannot reach a common agreement. But I think our discussion on this topic will yield positive results,” Trump said.

Trump also noted that Putin expressed willingness to help manage the conflict surrounding Iran.

“Putin said he wants to help. I told him, ‘If you really want to help, first stop the war between Russia and Ukraine. That would be far more beneficial,’” the U.S. president said.

A foreign policy aide to the Russian president also stated that Putin proposed to resolve the conflict in Iran “urgently through political and diplomatic means.”

It is worth noting that the war between Russia and Ukraine has been ongoing for over four years. Recently, Trump has repeatedly expressed concern about the prolonged nature of this conflict.
