Top 5 Vehicles in Kazakhstan: Most In-Demand Cars Revealed

In the first two months of 2026, official dealerships in Kazakhstan sold 708 passenger vehicles powered by alternative energy sources—a staggering 4.2-fold increase compared to the previous year. However, a new trend is emerging in the market: Kazakhstani consumers are increasingly favoring hybrids (438 units) over pure electric vehicles (EVs) (270 units).

According to the Kazakhstan Auto Union (KAU), there is high demand for Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV). Meanwhile, traditional hybrids (HEV) that do not require external charging maintain strong positions, with Toyota leading that specific segment.

The most popular individual model in the country is the BYD Song Plus DM-i hybrid crossover, with 127 units sold. Anar Makasheva, President of the KAU, noted that while the share of "green" vehicles will continue to grow in the coming years, hybrid technologies are likely to dominate the market due to their versatility.
