According to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Healthcare of Kazakhstan, measles has been recorded in 19 regions of the country, with Shymkent being the only city where no cases have been registered so far this year.

In the first month of 2026, Kazakhstan recorded a total of 1,951 measles cases. The highest concentration of infections is found in Astana, Almaty, and the Zhambyl and Almaty regions.

Key Statistics on Vaccination:

80% of those infected were unvaccinated.

Among infected children, 58% remained unvaccinated because their parents refused the vaccine (anti-vaccination sentiment).

Health officials emphasize that these refusals significantly hinder the achievement of herd immunity.
