The Dollar Has Fallen: Economist Explains How to Take Advantage of the Moment

Economist Aidarkhan Kusainov believes that the anti-crisis measures presented by the government in October can only temporarily slow the rise in prices, but cannot address the underlying causes of inflation. He stated this in an interview with BES.media.

According to the expert, the moratorium introduced in the country and the accompanying measures provide a short-term effect; however, they do not change the structure of the economy or eliminate the factors that continue to drive prices upward.

“The moratorium is not a solution to the problem, but merely another postponement of it. Inflation may indeed slow down slightly, but the fundamental cause will not disappear. In the second quarter of next year, it will manifest fully,” Kusainov said.

The economist emphasized that the country needs systemic changes, as administrative price controls only postpone the problem to a later time.

Earlier, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov to present a detailed plan by the end of the working week for adjusting the implementation of economic reforms prepared by the government in the interests of citizens.
