The popular messaging platform Telegram has launched an ambitious initiative to transform user profiles into complete websites. According to company co-founder Pavel Durov, the platform has submitted an official application to establish its own top-level domain zone, .gram.

If approved by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), every user will be able to claim a second-level personal domain linked directly to their Telegram username.

"For example, @durov would get the domain durov.gram, while @monk would receive monk.gram. Users will be able to create interactive websites hosted directly on the Telegram platform simply by sending a single message," Durov shared on his official channel.

In this way, a standard handle on the messenger could evolve beyond a tool for finding users into a personal web address across the broader internet.

Earlier, it was reported that Pavel Durov was seeking a mechanism to transfer $106,500 in prize money to the winners of the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI 2026) held in Astana.
