Residents of the Mangystau region can now receive remote medical consultations from leading South Korean doctors following a memorandum signed between the regional health department and the International St. Mary’s Hospital of Catholic University of Kwandong.

This new digital format allows Kazakhstani patients with complex diagnoses to promptly obtain a second medical opinion without leaving their region, eliminating expensive travel costs. Additionally, South Korean specialists visited major hospitals in Aktau to exchange experience and enhance the qualifications of local doctors.

Concurrently, Kazakhstan is developing its own medical tourism sector, with over two thousand foreign patients from countries including Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Russia, Turkey, the USA, Germany, the UK, and Australia receiving treatment at University Medical Center (UMC) clinics. According to the Ministry of Healthcare, these international tourists choose Kazakhstan for high-tech, costly services like cardiac surgeries, oncology treatment, joint replacements, and dental care due to the combination of high quality and affordable pricing.
