A gas explosion at the “Center of Pilaf” café in Shchuchinsk has left seven people dead and around 20 others injured, according to the Akmola Region Department of Emergency Situations.

The explosion occurred in a one-story café building attached to a residential house. A fire broke out immediately after the blast.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene within five minutes of receiving the report. Firefighters managed to evacuate more than 10 people from the burning building and removed eight gas cylinders to prevent further explosions.

Preliminary reports indicate that approximately 20 people sustained injuries. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the explosion.
