Schools Without Teachers and an AI University: President Tokayev Spearheads Technological Revolution

The Head of State, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, visited the "Alem.ai" International Artificial Intelligence Center, where he officially launched several strategic projects aimed at developing the capital's intellectual infrastructure.

As part of the visit, the "Astana Smart City" project—a foundational initiative for next-generation intelligent urban infrastructure—was officially inaugurated. Thomas Pramotedham, CEO of the UAE-based company Presight, presented a unified AI platform to the President. This system integrates all city data and services into a single interface, enhancing management efficiency and enabling real-time decision-making.

The President also launched the "Tomorrow School" network of AI schools across 14 regions of Kazakhstan. The defining feature of this institution is the absence of traditional teachers and lectures. Students learn by working in teams and completing over 50 practical projects.

• Accessibility: Education is free and available to all citizens over the age of 18.

• Scale: With over 21,000 applications already received, the project aims to cover the entire country by the end of the year.

According to the Minister of Science and Higher Education, Sayasat Nurbek, an "AI Research University" will be established at the "Alem.ai" base.

• Commencement: Academic programs are scheduled to begin on September 1.

• Infrastructure: Students will have direct access to national AI resources, including alem.cloud and AlemLLM.

Furthermore, the "TUMO Astana" center was opened for adolescents aged 12 to 18. This creative technology hub offers training in 11 disciplines, ranging from robotics to film production.

Concluding the event, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev initiated the official countdown to the international "Games of the Future 2026" tournament. This unique phygital-sport competition will be held in Astana from July 29 to August 9, 2026.
