As Kazakhstan prepares for the upcoming Constitutional Referendum on March 15, a surge in fraudulent activity has prompted an urgent warning from the Center for Combating Disinformation. Scammers are actively exploiting the event to target unsuspecting citizens.

Currently, unidentified individuals are calling residents, posing as "online voting organizers." They claim that a "ballot registration" is required to participate in the referendum and ask citizens to provide SMS codes sent to their mobile phones.

Authorities emphasize that there are no procedures involving phone calls or SMS registration for the referendum. Voting will take place exclusively at physical polling stations using paper ballots.

Experts urge the public not to share personal data or verification codes with strangers and to rely only on official notifications from the central and regional voting commissions. More than 12 million voters are expected to cast their ballots this Sunday.
