Representing Kazakhstan, Sofia Samodelkina finished among the top ten athletes in women's figure skating at the XXV Winter Olympic Games currently taking place in Milan.

The athlete earned 138.99 points in the free program, reaching a total score of 207.46 points. This marks a new personal best in her sporting career.

The gold medal in the women's competition was claimed by American Alysa Liu with 226.79 points. Second place went to Japan’s Kaori Sakamoto (224.90 points), while the bronze medal was secured by Japan’s Ami Nakai (219.16 points).
Notably, Kazakhstan has previously been represented in women's figure skating at the Winter Olympics by only two athletes - Elizabet Tursynbaeva and Aiza Mambekova in 2018. Tursynbaeva finished 12th in Pyeongchang.

Currently, Kazakhstan holds one medal at the Milan Olympics - a gold. It was sensationally won by Mikhail Shaidorov in the men's figure skating competition.
