The Kremlin has confirmed that U.S. President Donald Trump reached out to Russian leader Vladimir Putin with a personal request to refrain from strikes on Ukraine until February 1.

As Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov told reporters, the initiative was aimed at creating conditions for negotiations. According to him, the request did indeed originate from Trump.

When asked whether Putin agreed to fulfill this request, Peskov replied in the affirmative, emphasizing that it was specifically a personal appeal from the U.S. President. However, he declined to offer further comments on the matter.
Earlier, Donald Trump stated that he had asked the Russian President to temporarily abstain from strikes on Kyiv, citing severe freezing temperatures as one of the reasons, and received consent. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked the American leader for his efforts.

At the same time, Zelenskyy later clarified that no direct agreements regarding an "energy truce" had been reached with Russia.
