Washington is facing another political storm as US President Donald Trump’s public approval has plummeted to the lowest point of his political career. The latest Reuters/Ipsos survey reveals that support for the head of state has dropped to just 32 percent.

Most concerning for the White House is the growing dissatisfaction within his own political base. Over the span of just a single week, approval among Republicans - who previously offered staunch support—dropped sharply from 82 percent to 73 percent.

The primary driver behind this public backlash is the escalating cost of living. Currently, a mere 17 percent of Americans approve of the administration's efforts to curb rising prices. Dissatisfaction is mounting even among Trump’s core constituents, with 51 percent of Republicans openly voicing frustration over inflation.

Analysts attribute this sharp decline in ratings to two major catalysts:

  • Soaring Inflation: Sudden price spikes in gasoline and diesel fuel have hit everyday consumers hard right before the midterm congressional elections.

  • The Conflict in Iran: The military action launched at Trump's initiative in February disrupted global energy markets, destabilizing the domestic US economy.

This marks yet another warning sign for the administration's standing. Recently, the Financial Times reported a similar slump based on a Focaldata poll, which placed the president's approval rating at 33 percent.
