Restrictions imposed on journalists asking questions to deputies in the corridors

The format for media representatives to ask ad-hoc questions in the corridors of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan has been discontinued. According to Bolat Kaltyanbekov, Deputy Head of the Parliament's Office, in accordance with a decision by the Bureau, reporters will now only be able to interact with deputies in the press center according to a set schedule and within the framework of the approved agenda. This decision is based on the accreditation rules of the "Mass Media" law and the facility's status as a secure, regime-restricted building.

Following a session held on August 31, media representatives were temporarily halted in a specific wing of the building and were unable to access the hallway used by deputies right away. Although reporters linked this restriction to the arrival of newly elected deputy Dana Medeuova, an office representative declined to comment on the matter. He also noted that organizing individual interviews with deputies will be handled through the official contacts of political parties.

During the same session, personnel changes were also approved, with Erlan Karin reaffirmed in the position of Vice President and Oljas Bektenov re-confirmed as Prime Minister.
