A massive construction crane collapsed onto a passenger train in Thailand, leaving 22 people dead and at least 70 others injured. The tragedy occurred on a section of the high-speed railway in Nakhon Ratchasima province, according to the Khaosod news outlet.

According to preliminary reports, a crane used for construction work plunged from a height of approximately nine meters directly onto the train, which was traveling from Bangkok to Ubon Ratchathani province. While the first carriage managed to clear the danger zone, the impact struck the second and third carriages.

The force of the collision caused two passenger cars to derail, one of which caught fire. There were approximately 190 passengers on board at the time of the accident. Many victims were trapped within the twisted metal wreckage, significantly complicating rescue operations.

Emergency services confirmed that 70 injured individuals were transported to hospitals. The condition of 20 people is assessed as critical, and patients with the most severe injuries are being prepared for transfer to the central medical clinic.
The cause of the crane collapse is currently under investigation. Rescuers and investigative authorities remain at the scene.
