The Moldovan Parliament has officially approved the country’s withdrawal from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in a final reading. The decision to denounce the 1991 founding agreement and the 1993 Charter was supported by 60 out of 101 deputies.

While the ruling party backed the move as part of a shift toward European integration, opposition groups warned of potential economic risks. Following official notification to the CIS Executive Committee, Moldova’s membership will be fully terminated after a 12-month period. However, authorities noted that certain non-conflicting agreements beneficial to citizens may be retained.
