Olympic Champions Mikhail Shaidorov and Sofia Samodelkina Awarded Apartments in Astana (VIDEO)

On the night of February 25, a grand homecoming ceremony was held at the Astana International Airport to welcome Olympic champions Mikhail Shaidorov and Sofia Samodelkina. Fans, supporters, and sports journalists gathered to greet the Kazakh figure skaters with standing ovations.

The high-profile event was attended by the Minister of Tourism and Sports, Yerbol Myrzabossynov, and the President of the National Olympic Committee, Gennady Golovkin.

During the ceremony, the athletes were honored for their historic achievements. Mikhail Shaidorov was awarded a three-bedroom apartment, while Sofia Samodelkina received a one-bedroom apartment. In a gesture of appreciation for the team's collective effort, the athletes' coaches were also presented with new housing.

Olympic champion Mikhail Shaidorov expressed his deep gratitude to the public:

 "I want to sincerely thank everyone who came out to meet us at such a late hour. My heart was filled with pride when the flag of our country was raised to the highest pedestal at the Olympics. The warm words and support I’ve received are a huge motivation. I will continue to do my best to uphold the honor of our nation and reach even greater heights. Thank you all," said Shaidorov.

Gennady Golovkin, President of the National Olympic Committee, addressed the crowd, hailing the skaters as the icons of a new generation.

 "We, Kazakhstan, deserve this. Winning gold in figure skating is a matter of immense pride. These are our new heroes," Golovkin remarked.
