Almaty plans to install an additional 350 "Sergek" hardware and software complexes in 2026. This was announced by Meiram Duisekov, Acting Head of the Almaty Digitalization Department, during a city maslikhat meeting.

According to Duisekov, the current public-private partnership (PPP) agreement for the "Sergek" project is set to expire on December 31, 2025. In response, the department has proposed a one-time extension of the contract with the current operator, "Korkem Telecom" LLP, until the end of 2026.

If the extension is granted, the 350 new "Sergek" complexes will be installed using the private partner's funds. Furthermore, the service tariffs will remain at 2021 levels with no planned increases. Members of the city maslikhat fully supported the proposal.

Currently, there are 1,641 "Sergek" complexes operating in Almaty, comprising a total of 9,152 cameras. The system records various traffic violations, including:

• Improper lane changes at intersections

• Crossing the stop line

• Driving in bus lanes

• Speeding

• Running red lights

• Parking in prohibited areas

• Crossing solid lines

• Failure to yield to pedestrians

• Failure to wear seatbelts (for both drivers and front-seat passengers)
