Norwegian prosecutors have filed new charges against Marius Borg Hoiby, the son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit, as his high-profile trial continues. The 29-year-old now faces allegations of reckless behavior and violating a restraining order, in addition to existing rape and assault charges, according to the BBC.

Marius Borg Hoiby was arrested in early February, just one day before his trial was set to begin, following a violent incident at a flat in Oslo. He is currently facing a total of 40 charges related to multiple alleged offenses.

Prosecutors have cited four counts of rape involving victims who were reportedly in an incapacitated state. Hoiby denies these allegations. The defendant admitted to contacting a woman in the Frogner district of Oslo, despite a court-ordered ban on communication. State Prosecutor Sturla Henriksbo confirmed that Hoiby has admitted to "reckless behavior," a charge that carries a potential sentence of up to two years.

The court recently heard testimony from Hoiby's former girlfriend, prominent influencer Nora Haukland. She alleged that during their relationship in 2022–2023, he physically assaulted and choked her. Audio recordings of their arguments were played as evidence.Hoiby’s defense team denies the abuse, claiming the influencer did not "live in a regime of fear."

Marius Borg Hoiby is the eldest son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit from a previous relationship. While he was raised within the Royal Family, he is not an official member of the Royal House of Norway and holds no royal title.
