In New Zealand, a 32-year-old man stole a green, diamond-encrusted Fabergé egg from a luxury jewelry store in Auckland and swallowed it. He was caught before he could leave the store, reports NDTV WORLD.

The police have not been able to retrieve the egg yet and are monitoring the man, waiting for nature to take its course.

The egg is a special edition inspired by the character in the James Bond film Octopussy, made of 18-carat gold and decorated with blue sapphires and white diamonds. A small golden octopus is placed inside.

Fabergé eggs became famous in late 19th-century Russia as Easter eggs adorned with gold and precious stones.
