The Central Referendum Commission (CRC) has released the preliminary results of the nationwide vote on the adoption of the country's new Constitution. According to official data, 7,954,667 citizens voted in favor of the new Basic Law, representing 87.15% of the participants. Meanwhile, 898,099 individuals voted against the proposal.

The CRC has declared the referendum valid, as 73.12% of eligible voters cast their ballots.

By law, the Constitution is considered adopted if it receives the support of more than half of the participants, including a positive result in at least two-thirds of the regions and cities of republican significance. Kazakhstan has decisively surpassed this threshold.

Civic engagement remained high throughout the political campaign:

• By 2:00 PM, turnout had already reached 51.93%.

• By the time polling stations closed at 8:00 PM, a total of 9,126,850 people had voted, bringing the final turnout to 73.24%.

The final results of the referendum are expected to be officially published by March 21, 2026.

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev congratulated his compatriots on the adoption of the new Constitution, stating that this historic step was conducted at the highest level—transparently and fairly. The President emphasized that this event marks a new milestone in the nation's democratic development.
