Nearly 900 Million Tenge in Damages: Fraudster Who Promised US Visas Sentenced

The head of a travel agency who deceived citizens by promising assistance with securing foreign visas has been sentenced in Kazakhstan. The court found her guilty of multiple counts of large-scale fraud.

According to investigative data, the defendant promised to help clients obtain long-term visas to the US, the UK, and Schengen countries, as well as residency permits and citizenship. In total, 124 individuals fell victim to her actions.

The total amount of material damage inflicted on the victims reached 896 million tenge.

Taking into account the defendant's admission of guilt and repentance, the court sentenced her to 6 years and 8 months of imprisonment. The sentence will be served in a medium-security correctional institution.

Additionally, she has been banned from engaging in entrepreneurial activities within the tourism and migration sectors for a period of 5 years.
