The "Pedestrian" operational and preventive measure is currently being conducted in the capital to ensure road traffic safety and prevent traffic accidents. Polisia.kz reported this with reference to the Astana City Police Department.

According to official data, nearly 400 traffic accidents involving pedestrians have occurred in the capital since the beginning of the year. Among these, 82 cases were determined to be the fault of the pedestrians themselves. The primary causes of these traffic accidents are crossing the road in undesignated areas, crossing against the prohibitive red traffic light, and negligence on the part of road users. It was also noted that the absence of retroreflective elements on clothing during the dark hours of the day further escalates the risk of accidents.

As part of the preventive measure, police officers have intensified control near educational institutions and in crowded public areas. Furthermore, explanatory work on compliance with traffic rules is being carried out among both drivers and pedestrians.

The Police Department urges drivers to reduce their speed before pedestrian crossings, and advises pedestrians to cross the road only at designated locations and to ensure that vehicles have come to a complete stop.
