Lufthansa will resume regular flights between Frankfurt am Main and Kazakhstan starting March 29, the airline’s press service announced.

The carrier will operate five weekly flights to Almaty and four to Astana. The route will follow a circular schedule: Frankfurt – Almaty – Astana – Frankfurt.

Passengers departing from both Kazakh cities will have access to direct flights to Frankfurt, as well as convenient connections to other destinations across Europe and North America.

During the intermediate stop in Astana, passengers continuing their journey will remain on board the aircraft. In Almaty, transit passengers will wait in a designated airport transit area.

Flights will be operated by the Airbus A340-300. The aircraft offers three classes of service:

  • Business Class with fully flat beds;

  • Premium Economy Class;

  • Economy Class for long-haul travel.

Passengers in all classes will be provided with meals, beverages, and individual entertainment screens, including children’s programming. FlyNet onboard internet service will also be available.

Lufthansa had suspended flights to Kazakhstan on October 26, 2025. According to the Ministry of Transport, the decision was due to the need to avoid Russian airspace, a shortage of aircraft and delivery delays, as well as a seasonal decline in passenger demand.
