The Louvre Museum has decided to raise ticket prices by 45% for tourists from non–European Union countries. According to the BBC, the measure aims to modernize the museum’s infrastructure, strengthen security systems, and improve the quality of exhibitions.

Visitors from countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, and China will now pay €32 (approximately 19,138 KZT) for entry. The increased ticket revenue is expected to generate millions of euros annually, which will be directed toward the museum’s modernization efforts.

Last October, the theft of $102 million worth of jewelry exposed the outdated infrastructure and weak security systems at the Louvre. As a result, the new pricing policy and renovation plans have become especially relevant.

The museum receives around 30,000 visitors daily. The iconic “Mona Lisa” is also expected to be relocated within the museum, a move intended to ease overcrowding and allow each visitor a clearer, though brief, view of the painting.

Although the decision will increase expenses for tourists, it is regarded as a necessary step to enhance safety and improve the overall visitor experience at the world-famous museum.
