The National Meteorological Service, Kazhydromet, has announced a gradual increase in temperatures across Kazakhstan for the upcoming period of April 18–20. While a warming trend is anticipated, meteorologists warn that unstable weather conditions, including precipitation, will persist in several regions.
According to the forecast, a Scandinavian anticyclone will initially maintain moderately cold but dry conditions in the northern, eastern, and central regions. However, as air masses shift, temperatures in these areas are expected to rise steadily.
In contrast, the western and southern regions of the country will face more volatile conditions. Forecasts predict rain, thunderstorms, and high winds, with the possibility of snow in certain areas. Additionally, fog is expected to develop nationwide during the night and early morning hours.
• West, North, and Central Kazakhstan: Temperatures will rise to a range of 15°C to 23°C.
• East Kazakhstan: Daytime highs are expected to reach 10°C to 18°C.
• South and Southeast Kazakhstan: The warmest conditions are projected, with temperatures hitting 17°C to 28°C.
Looking ahead, Kazhydromet has provided a preliminary outlook for May 2026. The month is projected to be exceptionally warm, with extreme heat potentially reaching 44°C in certain regions. Despite these peaks, the overall monthly average is expected to remain only 1–2°C above the long-term climatic norm, with standard levels of precipitation.
Authorities remind citizens to remain cautious during outdoor activities, as the Ministry of Emergency Situations continues to monitor safety regulations regarding campfires and public outings during the spring season.
