The Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan has issued a statement following reports on social media regarding scammers calling citizens shortly after their medical appointments.

One social media user reported that their mother received a phone call immediately after leaving a doctor's office. The caller identified themselves as a medical professional and requested an SMS code, claiming it was necessary to finalize the appointment registration.

The Ministry clarified that these calls are not linked to the internal operations of clinics. According to the department, scammers exploit the trust of citizens - particularly the elderly - by posing as healthcare employees.

"There have been no confirmed reports of system breaches or illegal data leaks that would allow real-time tracking of patient visits. These incidents appear to be part of widespread fraudulent schemes," the Ministry stated.

Authorities advise citizens to verify their personal data only through official platforms such as eGov.kz, eGov Mobile, or the Damumed application. The Ministry also reminded the public that SMS codes are only sent for logging into digital services and that healthcare staff will never request such codes over the phone.
