The Senate has ratified the Asia-Pacific Regional Convention on the Recognition of Qualifications in Higher Education (the Tokyo Convention), adopted under the auspices of UNESCO.

The document establishes uniform and transparent rules for the recognition of diplomas among countries in the Asia-Pacific region, including China, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Mongolia, and others. Kazakhstan will adopt common standards, mandatory official information exchange, and accelerated procedures for the verification of educational documents.

Furthermore, the convention provides access to the APNNIC international network, designed for the exchange of information regarding educational qualifications.
