Kazakhstan to Run Additional Trains for New Year Holidays

Kazakhstan will increase the number of passenger trains during the pre-New Year and holiday period, Qrnews.kz reports. This decision was announced by JSC “Passenger Transportations” and is due to the traditional rise in demand for train tickets at the end of December and the beginning of January.

Additional services will operate on the busiest routes. For the Almaty–Astana route, trains No. 201 and No. 202 are scheduled for December 20, 22, 24, 26, 28, 30, and January 2 and 4. Trains from Astana will depart on December 21, 23, 25, 27, 29, 31, and January 3 and 5.

The Astana–Shymkent route will be strengthened with trains No. 203 and No. 204. From the capital, trains will depart on December 20, 23, 26, and 29, and January 2. From Shymkent, services are scheduled for December 22, 25, 28, 30, and January 4.

Trains No. 257 and No. 258 will connect Aktobe and Astana. Departures from Aktobe are on December 20, 23, 26, 29, and January 2. Trains to Astana will run on December 22, 24, 28, 30, and January 4.

The company recommends passengers purchase tickets in advance, as a high volume of travel is expected nationwide during this period.
