Kazakhstan Announces New Dates for First-Grade School Enrollment

Beginning this year, the enrollment period for first-grade students in Kazakhstan will start on May 27 and continue until August 31. The Ministry of Education stated that this change was implemented to optimize the educational process.

Minister of Education Zhuldyz Suleimenova explained that the previous practice of starting enrollment on April 1 often conflicted with the active academic term, creating an excessive workload for teachers and school administrations.

"Reviewing the enrollment deadlines allows school leadership and IT specialists to focus on completing the current academic year effectively while organizing the reception of new students more efficiently," the head of the department noted.

Digital Enrollment Process

The application process is fully digitized. Parents can submit their children's applications through the following platforms:

• eGov.kz (The Electronic Government Portal)

• eBalyq (Educational Information System)

The "3+1" principle remains in effect this year: parents may submit three applications to schools within their residential service area and one application to a school outside their district.

Required Documents:

1. The child's birth certificate;

2. Medical certificates regarding the child's health (Forms No. 065/u and No. 026/u-3);

3. Two photographs of the child (size 3x4 cm).

According to Ministry forecasts, more than 400,000 children across the country are expected to enter the first grade for the 2026 academic year.
