Information alleging that dog meat is being used in public catering establishments in Astana has not been confirmed, according to a statement from Astana Vetservice.

Earlier, rumors had circulated on social media and in certain media outlets suggesting that dog meat was being utilized in the capital's cafes.

According to the veterinary service, this information likely stems from events that occurred in 2023. At that time, an illegal trade in animal products was detected in the Akmola region, leading to an investigation by law enforcement agencies. Consequently, those responsible were held accountable.

Currently, there are no officially registered cases of such products being supplied, sold, or used in Astana.

Representatives of the agency emphasized that veterinary and sanitary control of animal products is conducted on a regular basis in the capital. This includes verifying product documentation, monitoring suppliers, and ensuring compliance with food safety requirements.
