In Kazakhstan, using a mobile phone placed on a magnetic holder while driving is not considered a violation, according to an official statement from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan.

Spokesperson Aktoty Boranova clarified that there is a common misconception that drivers are not allowed to look at a phone mounted on a holder.

“According to the law, a mobile phone may only be used via hands-free systems, such as a speaker or headphones. Simply looking at a phone placed on a magnetic holder is not a violation. However, if a driver holds the phone, texts, or talks directly, it is considered a legal offense,” she explained.

Officials also warned that any distraction while driving is dangerous, and even a brief loss of attention can lead to a traffic accident. Under current regulations, drivers are only permitted to communicate using hands-free devices, while holding a phone can result in administrative penalties.
