How much will Almaty spend on New Year decorations and where the main Christmas trees will be installed

Almaty districts have announced their budgets and plans for the city’s New Year decorations. This year, the main city Christmas tree will be moved to the Park of the 28 Panfilov Guardsmen. Previously, it stood at Abay Square.

The Medeu district received 200 million tenge for decorations and managed to save about 40 million tenge after the competition. In the Alatau district, 100 million tenge were allocated for festive decorations: the work will be completed by December 25, and the main events will take place at Almaty Arena and in seven microdistricts.

In the Turksib district, a contract worth 149.9 million tenge has been signed. In addition to standard decorations, a Christmas tree event with gifts for 2,500 children from socially vulnerable families will be held. The Bostandyq district received 178 million tenge, and the main Christmas tree will be installed on the territory of “Atakent.”

In the Auezov district, Christmas trees, photo zones, and light installations will appear. The amounts for the Almalinsky and Auezov districts have not yet been announced, as competitions are still ongoing.

In the Nauryzbay district, 92.3 million tenge were allocated for decorations. The main Christmas tree will be installed in the Shugyla microdistrict, and two ice rinks will also be created.
