According to the National Bank of Kazakhstan, the price of one gram of gold has reached a record 82,164.45 tenge.
For comparison, at the beginning of 2026, the price per gram of gold in the country stood at 71,300.21 tenge. This indicates a significant surge in the value of the precious metal within a very short period.

The upward trend reflects the global market, where gold prices have reached historic peaks. On January 26, the price of a troy ounce of gold surpassed the $5,000 mark for the first time in history, subsequently climbing as high as $5,200.

Experts attribute this dramatic rise to several key factors:

  • Currency Fluctuations: The continued weakening of the US dollar.
  • Geopolitics: Persistent geopolitical instability across several regions.
  • Economic Uncertainty: Global economic unpredictability leading investors toward "safe-haven" assets.

In January alone, global gold prices surged by approximately 20%, with an increase of more than 5% recorded in the last week alone.
