Synopticians have warned of prolonged freezing temperatures across the entire territory of Kazakhstan. No warm weather is expected during the first days of spring.

Cold and dry weather will prevail across most of the country over the coming weekend. However, starting March 2, snow and blizzards are expected to arrive from the western regions.

Southern Regions: Rain and increased wind speeds are expected, though temperatures will gradually begin to rise.
Northern and Eastern Regions: By March 8, temperatures will rise slowly, reaching daytime highs between -7°C and -5°C.
Western Regions: During the pre-holiday week, the mercury will fluctuate between -1°C and +1°C.
Southern Hubs: On the holidays, temperatures may rise up to +7°C.

The Almaty City Department of Emergency Situations has issued a storm warning for February 28 due to high winds, snow, and icy road conditions. Experts advise city residents to exercise extreme caution at pedestrian crossings due to the high risk of slipping.

Although Kazhydromet previously predicted that February 2026 would be warmer than usual, the freezing temperatures have yet to recede. In some regions, temperatures have recently plummeted to as low as -35°C.
Мeteorologists have also released a preliminary flood forecast. This year, the risk of flooding is high in the following regions: Karaganda and Akmola, Abai, North Kazakhstan and East Kazakhstan.

The lowest risk levels are currently observed in the Mangystau, Kyzylorda, and Zhambyl regions.
