Freezing Temperatures Down to -35°C and Blizzards: Upcoming Weather Forecast for Kazakhstan

From January 27 to 29, weather conditions across most of Kazakhstan will be dictated by a southern cyclone, according to Kazhydromet.

Southern and southeastern regions can expect mixed precipitation, accompanied by blizzards, icy road conditions (black ice), and strengthening winds.

At the same time, the northern, central, and northwestern parts of the country will remain under the influence of an anticyclone. Forecasters predict freezing weather, mostly without precipitation. According to Kazhydromet, nighttime temperatures in northern regions could plummet to as low as -35°C.

Temperature Outlook:

• Western and Northern Regions (Jan 27–28): Nighttime temperatures will range from -20°C to -35°C, though some areas may see a rise to -7°C...-20°C. Daytime highs are expected between -2°C and -12°C.
• Central, Eastern, and Southeastern Regions: Nighttime temperatures will fluctuate between -3°C and -18°C, with daytime temperatures reaching 0°C to -7°C.
• Mountainous Areas: Nighttime lows will hold between -15°C and -23°C, while daytime temperatures will range from -8°C to -15°C.
