A violent assault occurred at the Ahmet Koyuncu Vocational and Technical High School in the Siverek district, resulting in numerous casualties and the eventual death of the perpetrator, reports Türkiye Today.

A 19-year-old former student of the institution launched an armed attack on the school grounds using a hunting rifle. According to eyewitness accounts, the assailant began firing in the school courtyard before infiltrating the building and continuing to shoot indiscriminately. The ensuing chaos prompted students to leap from windows in a desperate attempt to escape. There were also unconfirmed reports of a hostage situation within one of the classrooms.

Preliminary reports indicate that 18 individuals were injured during the rampage, the majority of whom are students. At least one teacher is reported to be in critical condition.

The crisis concluded tragically when the gunman committed suicide as special forces attempted to take him into custody. Governor Hasan Shildak confirmed the identity of the shooter and stated that a full-scale investigation has been launched to determine the motive behind the attack.

Early investigative leads suggest that the shooting may have been triggered by a recent conflict between the perpetrator and a current student at the high school. Local authorities have cordoned off the area, and medical teams remain on-site to assist those affected by the trauma.
