According to the Bureau of National Statistics, as of December 1, 2025, the population of Kazakhstan reached 20.48 million people. Within the first 11 months of the year, the overall growth rate was 0.96%, reports informburo.

  •  Astana recorded the highest growth rate: The capital's population surged by 6.67%, increasing from 1.53 million to 1.63 million people.
  •  Shymkent took second place (+2.77%): The number of residents grew from 1.26 million to 1.29 million.
  •  Almaty ranked third (+2.31%): The population of the country's largest metropolis rose from 2.29 million to 2.35 million.

Meanwhile, the Turkestan region remains one of the most densely populated areas in the country with 2.1 million residents; however, it was the only major region to show a slight population decline of 0.27%.
