Almaty Student Housing Competes with Four-Star Hotels: How Much Does It Cost?

A new standard of comfort for students is emerging in Almaty. Some of the city's dormitories are ready to rival upscale hotels in terms of service quality, offering up to five meals a day and dedicated shuttle services. Aziz Kazhdenbek, Head of the Youth Policy Department of Almaty, outlined the transformation and pricing of student housing during a briefing at the Regional Communications Service.

Currently, 136 dormitories accommodate 46.2 thousand students across the city. Among them, 43 are modern facilities brought into operation in recent years. Monthly fees at state and national universities start at 25 thousand tenge, while rates at private institutions range from 30 to 90 thousand tenge.

Pricing directly depends on the location and amenities provided. According to Kazhdenbek, premium student residences featuring private bathrooms, individual kitchens, and climate control systems have been established in the city. Utility payments are included in the overall cost, with select venues offering extra services like transportation and full meal plans.
