Air Astana has received approval for a major deal with the American Boeing Corporation. The decision was finalized during an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders held on January 15, 2026. Under the agreement, the airline plans to purchase five Boeing 787-9 aircraft, with deliveries scheduled for the period between 2032 and 2035. Additionally, the company secured five options and five purchase rights for more aircraft of the same model.

While the exact cost of the deal has not been officially disclosed, it is confirmed that the transaction value exceeds 50% of the book value of Air Astana's assets. Based on the reports from the first three quarters of 2025, the company's assets are valued at 1.1 trillion tenge, meaning the current deal is worth at least 550 billion tenge. Previously, in November, it was reported that Boeing would deliver a total of 18 aircraft to Air Astana. The first three are expected in 2026–2027, with the remainder arriving between 2032 and 2035.

The total catalog value of the entire fleet, including engines, is estimated at $7 billion, or approximately 3.8 trillion tenge at current exchange rates. Furthermore, the airline plans to hold another meeting on February 9, 2026, to discuss the purchase of Airbus A320neo family aircraft. This upcoming deal is also expected to represent more than 50% of the company's total asset value. Consequently, Air Astana intends to spend at least 1.1 trillion tenge on fleet expansion in the coming years. Notably, these large-scale developments began following President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s visit to the USA, during which a contract for the delivery of up to 15 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners was signed.
